Membership The Stour Valley Action Group was formed in April 2001 to contest the original planning application to build The John Constable Countryside and Heritage Centre in London Road, Great Horkesley. The committee was re-elected following an open meeting on September 19, 2006. SVAG will continue to examine and question the ‘Horkesley Park Heritage and Conservation Centre’ proposal for the same site, taking care to ensure that the views of the local community are fully taken into account. In September 2006 SVAG had more than 700 members. Membership is open to all, but particularly those living in the countryside that would be affected by the proposed 'Horkesley Park' development. Villages immediately affected are Great and Little Horkesley, Nayland and Boxted, but the development will also be of concern to those who live in Langham, Leavenheath, Stoke-by-Nayland, Higham, Wissington, Wormingford, West Bergholt, Eight Ash Green and other surrounding villages. Anyone else, anywhere, who wants to save this landscape is welcome to join.
